MEDICAL
RECORDS REQUEST
KNOW YOUR OPTIONS…
Before undergoing a new scan, it’s important to obtain your past imaging records so your healthcare team can compare previous results with current findings. Prior images—such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, or ultrasounds—help providers track changes over time, distinguish new issues from old ones, and avoid unnecessary repeat testing. You can request these records directly from the facility where the imaging was performed, often through their medical records department or patient portal. Be sure to ask for both the official radiology reports and the actual images on a CD, USB drive, or electronic link. Bringing these materials to your appointment ensures your care team has the full picture to make the most accurate assessment.
